Das VOCER Millennial Lab ist Medienlabor, Trainings-Center und Think Tank in einem: Es entwickelt konkrete Lösungen zur Erreichung der Zielgruppe der Millennials mit qualitativ hochwertigen journalistischen Angeboten. Das Lab wird von der Schöpflin Stiftung, der Google News Initiative, der Zeit-Stiftung Ebelin und Gerd Bucerius, von Vor Ort NRW – Journalismus-Lab der Landesanstalt für Medien NRW und von der Stiftung Pressehaus NRZ gefördert.

Auf Basis aktueller Forschung testen wir gemeinsam mit Jugendlichen und jungen Erwachsenen neue Formate, Plattformen und Vertriebswege. Dazu arbeiten wir im Dialog mit der jungen Zielgruppe deren Themeninteressen und Erlebniswelten auf – und modulieren so das Szenario des täglichen Medienhandeln von Millennials. Darauf aufbauend entwickeln wie ebenso nachhaltige wie praktikable Lösungsansätze für Redaktionen und diskutieren diese mit der Branche.

Diese Lösungen sollen Medienhäuser sowie freischaffende Journalist*innen befähigen, ihre Wertversprechen mit Blick auf die Demokratierelevanz des Journalismus einzulösen.

VOCER ist eine gemeinnützige Organisation für Medieninnovation mit Sitz in Hamburg, die sich als Denkfabrik, Akademie, Plattform und Talentschmiede versteht. Seit 2009 organisieren wir Bildungs- und Förderprogramme zur digitalen Transformation und stoßen Initiativen zu Non-Profit-Journalismus, gesellschaftlicher Innovationen, Nachrichtenkompetenz und Digitaler Resilienz an.

Seit Beginn haben wir ein ständig wachsendes ein Netzwerk an progressiven und innovativen Medienmacher:innen aufgebaut, deren Expertise in unsere Arbeit einfließt. Darüber hinaus fördern wir digitale Gründer*innen und unterstützen sie bei der Ideenfindung und Geschäftsmodellentwicklung.

Mit dem VOCER Innovation Day und dem VOCER Innovation Salon veranstalten wir seit 2014 innovative Veranstaltungsformate, die neue Wege im Digitalen Journalismus ergründen und die Aktivitäten der Nachwuchsförderung über ein anspruchsvolles Konferenzangebot flankieren.

Mit dem #Netzwende Award vergeben wir seit 2017 außerdem in Zusammenarbeit mit der Rudolf Augstein Stiftung und der ZEIT-Stiftung Ebelin und Gerd Bucerius den ersten und bislang einzigen Preis für nachhaltige Medieninnovation in Europa.

Das VOCER Millennial Lab konzentriert sich seit 2018 auf die Herausforderungen im Journalismus für ein Millennial-Publikum.

Seit 2021 befasst sich außerdem das neu gegründete VOCER Institut für Digitale Resilienz mit den Herausforderungen von Krisensituationen für unterschiedliche Akteur:innen des Mediensystems und befähigt sie und ihre Organisationen, widerstandsfähiger zu werden.
